This 4K action camera has a dual screen layout, with a colour screen on the front for framing yourself and a 2 inch touchscreen on the back for the controls.

It records 4K UHD video at 3840 x 2160 and 30 frames per second, and takes photos at up to 24 MP.

Inside the supplied waterproof case it can be used underwater to a depth of 40 m, and a Diving Mode corrects the blue and green cast in underwater footage.

Electronic image stabilisation steadies handheld and handlebar footage, and built-in 2.4 GHz WiFi links the camera to a phone or tablet.

The box lists two 1050 mAh batteries, a remote control, a USB cable, a camera frame, two bicycle handlebar holders and a set of arms and screws for mounting.

4K Dual Screen Action Camera with 40 m Waterproof Case

A phone is a fine camera until the day gets wet, fast or bumpy. That is the gap an action camera fills. This one records 4K UHD video at 3840 x 2160 and 30 frames per second, takes photos at up to 24 MP, and comes with the case, remote and mounting pieces you need to strap it to a bike or take it under the surface.

4K Dual Screen Action Camera with 40 m Waterproof Case

The dual screen layout is the feature you will use most. A colour screen on the front shows you the frame when the lens is pointed at you, so you are not guessing whether your head is in shot. On the back is a 2 inch touchscreen for menus, playback and settings. You switch between the two as you need them.

4K Dual Screen Action Camera with 40 m Waterproof Case

Water is handled by the case. With the camera sealed inside the supplied waterproof case, the maker says it can be used underwater to a depth of 40 m. A Diving Mode is included that reduces the blue and green tint water puts on everything, so reef and pool footage looks closer to how you remember it. The maker does not state any water resistance for the camera outside its case.

4K Dual Screen Action Camera with 40 m Waterproof Case

Electronic image stabilisation, or EIS, smooths out the shake from hands, handlebars and footsteps. The lens is a 170 degree wide angle, which is the classic action camera look, and there is an 8x digital zoom. Built-in 2.4 GHz WiFi connects the camera to an Android or iOS device, and the maker lists Windows computers as compatible too.

4K Dual Screen Action Camera with 40 m Waterproof Case

For power, the box contents list two 1050 mAh lithium-ion batteries and a USB cable. The maker also names a battery charger among the features. No mains adaptor is listed. Footage records to a microSD card, which is not listed as included. The maker does not state the weight or dimensions, and describes the camera only as compact and lightweight.

Not sure yet? That is fine.

A camera has to suit the job you bought it for, and you cannot always judge that from a photograph. If it is not right for you, send it back within 14 days of delivery in resaleable condition and we refund the price you paid, including standard delivery. That is a voluntary policy we offer on top of your legal rights.

If it turns up faulty, damaged or not as described, that is on us. We pay the return postage, with your protection under the Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act 2003 unaffected. Read the full detail on our refunds and returns page, or ask us anything before you order.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do I get in the box?

The maker lists the camera, a waterproof case, a remote control, two 1050 mAh batteries, a USB cable, a dust cover, a black camera frame, two flat bicycle handlebar holders, a hook buckle, long and short thumb screws and extension arms. The maker's list runs on to further mounting pieces. A memory card is not listed.

What video resolution does it shoot?

Up to 4K UHD, which is 3840 x 2160 pixels, at 30 frames per second. Video is saved as MP4 in a 16:9 shape. The maker does not list the frame rates available at lower resolutions.

How detailed are the photos?

Still photos go up to 24 MP and save as JPEG files. That is plenty for prints and for cropping in on part of a scene. White balance is automatic.

Why does it have two screens?

The front screen is there for when you film yourself. You can see the framing while the lens faces you. The rear screen is for everything else, and you switch between them as needed.

Is the back screen a touchscreen?

Yes. The rear display is a 2 inch touchscreen, and you use it to change modes and settings. Touchscreens generally do not respond through a hard waterproof case, so set the camera up before you seal it.

Is the camera itself waterproof?

The waterproofing comes from the case. The maker says the waterproof case allows the camera to be used underwater up to 40 m deep. No water resistance is stated for the bare camera, so treat it as one that must stay dry outside the case.

Should I use the case in the rain?

Yes. Because the maker gives no water rating for the camera on its own, the case is the sensible choice in a tropical downpour, on a boat or at the pool. The dust cover and open frame are for dry days.

How deep can I take it?

Up to 40 m, inside the supplied waterproof case. That covers snorkelling and recreational diving depths. Check the case seal for sand or hair before every dive, because a seal that is not clean can leak.

What is Diving Mode?

Water absorbs red light, so underwater footage tends to look blue or green. Diving Mode is a colour-corrected setting that reduces those wavelengths. The maker says it makes underwater video look more vivid and natural.

How does the camera deal with shaky footage?

Yes, electronic image stabilisation, often shortened to EIS. It works in software to steady shaky footage from walking, cycling or holding the camera at arm's length. There is no mechanical gimbal inside.

How much does the wide-angle lens take in?

The maker describes a 170 degree wide-angle lens. A view that wide fits a lot into the frame and gives the slightly curved look action footage is known for. It also makes framing forgiving when the camera is mounted where you cannot see the screen.

Can it zoom?

It has an 8x digital zoom and no optical zoom. Digital zoom crops into the picture, so quality falls as you zoom further. With a wide-angle camera like this, moving closer to the subject gives a better result.

How many batteries come with it?

The box contents list two 1050 mAh lithium-ion batteries. One part of the maker's description mentions four, so the figures do not fully agree. Plan on two, which still gives you one in the camera and one spare.

How long does a battery last?

The maker does not state a recording time per battery. Run time on any action camera depends on resolution, WiFi use and how long the screens are lit. Having a second battery to swap in is the practical answer.

How do I charge the batteries?

A USB cable is listed in the box, and the maker names a battery charger among the features. No mains adaptor is listed, so you will need a USB power source of your own, such as a computer port or a USB adaptor you already have.

What memory card does it take?

It records to a microSD card. The maker lists a V60 video speed class, which is a fast card suited to 4K recording. The maker does not state the largest card size it accepts, and no card is listed in the box.

What is the WiFi for?

The camera has 2.4 GHz WiFi that links it directly to a phone or tablet. Android and iOS are listed as supported. People generally use this link to view and copy footage without removing the card.

How do I get footage onto a laptop or PC?

Yes. The maker lists personal computers and laptops as compatible devices, with Windows named as a supported system. A USB cable is included. You can also take the microSD card out and read it in a card reader.

What does the remote control do?

A remote control is included so you can trigger the camera when it is mounted out of reach, such as on handlebars. The maker does not state its range or whether it is waterproof. Keep the remote dry unless you hear otherwise from us.

Can I mount it on a bicycle?

Yes. Two flat bicycle handlebar holders are listed in the box, along with thumb screws and extension arms to set the angle. It is a simple way to record a ride along the park connectors.

Is a helmet or chest mount included?

The part of the box list the maker gives names handlebar holders, a hook buckle, a camera frame and extension arms. It does not name a helmet or chest mount. Ask us before ordering if a particular mount matters to you.

What about audio on the recordings?

Yes, video is recorded with audio, and AAC and MP3 are the listed audio formats. The maker's feature list also mentions an outdoor microphone without describing it further. Sound recorded inside any sealed waterproof case will be muffled.

Can I use it for vlogging?

The front screen makes that practical. You can hold the camera at arm's length, check your framing and talk to the lens. The wide lens keeps you and the background in shot.

Is it suitable for snorkelling trips?

Yes, with the case on. The 40 m depth rating is far more than snorkelling needs, and Diving Mode helps with the colour of the water. Attach a wrist strap or float of your own, since the maker does not list one.

How do I care for it after the sea?

Rinse the closed case in fresh water to remove salt, then dry it before you open it. Salt left on the hinge and seal shortens their life. Let everything dry fully in a ventilated room before storing it.

Will the lens fog up in humid weather?

Fogging can happen with any cased camera when warm, damp air is sealed inside and the case then cools in water. Closing the case in a dry, air-conditioned room helps. The maker does not list anti-fog inserts in the box.

Does the maker give its size or weight?

The maker does not state the dimensions or the weight. It is described as compact and lightweight, and the screen on the back measures 2 inches.

Would it suit a beginner?

It would. The touchscreen keeps the controls simple, and the case, remote, spare battery and mounts are already in the box. A beginner mainly needs to add a microSD card.

How does the camera get to me, and how fast?

By tracked courier from overseas warehouses, and most orders arrive in 7 to 12 working days. Delivery is free across Singapore on orders of $150 or more. Below that it is $20.

What if it turns out not to be the right camera for me?

You have 14 days from delivery to return it, in resaleable condition. Contact us before sending it back so we can arrange things. If you tell us what you plan to film, we can also help you decide before you buy.

How to Choose a 4K Dual Screen Action Camera for Rides, Reefs and Rainy Days

6 min read Camera Company

Where a phone runs out

Phones take good video. They are also expensive, slippery and not something you want to clamp to a handlebar or hold underwater over a reef. There comes a point, usually on a wet day or a fast one, when you would rather not risk it.

That is what an action camera is for. It is small, it expects to be mounted, and it comes with a case that keeps water out. You stop worrying about the device and get on with the activity.

This guide looks at what matters when you choose one, using this 4K dual screen model as the example.

Resolution, in practical terms

The camera records 4K UHD video, which is 3840 x 2160 pixels, at 30 frames per second. Photos go up to 24 MP.

4K gives you room. Even if you only ever watch your clips on a phone, shooting in 4K means you can crop in, straighten a tilted horizon or pull a still frame, and the result remains sharp. Thirty frames per second is the standard speed for normal video and looks natural for travel, rides and family clips.

The maker does not list the frame rates at lower resolutions, so if slow motion is important to you, ask us before ordering.

Two screens, and why the front one matters

For years, filming yourself with an action camera meant pointing it at your face and hoping. You would get home and find half the clips showed your forehead and a lot of sky.

A dual screen camera fixes that. This one has a colour screen on the front, next to the lens, so you see your own framing while you film. On the back is a 2 inch touchscreen, where you change modes, review clips and adjust settings. You switch between them depending on which way the camera is facing.

If you plan to record yourself talking, on a hike at MacRitchie or at a hawker centre table, the front screen is worth having. If you only ever point the camera away from you, it matters less.

The case is what makes it waterproof

Read this part carefully, because it is where people come unstuck.

The maker states that the waterproof case allows the camera to be used underwater up to 40 m deep. The rating belongs to the camera in its case. The maker gives no water resistance figure for the camera on its own, so do not take the bare camera into the pool or out in heavy rain.

In practice that means deciding before you leave home. Dry day on the bike: use the open frame or the dust cover, and you get clearer sound and easy access to the touchscreen. Boat, beach, pool, kayak or a sky that looks like rain: put it in the case.

Forty metres is deeper than most recreational divers go, and far more than snorkelling needs. The weak point is never the depth. It is a grain of sand or a hair across the seal. Check the seal every time you close the case.

One thing to know: touchscreens generally do not respond through a hard case. Choose your mode first, then seal it.

Diving Mode and underwater colour

Water filters out red light quickly. A few metres down, everything shifts toward blue and green, and footage shot on normal settings looks cold and flat.

This camera has a Diving Mode that the maker describes as colour-corrected. It reduces the blue and green wavelengths so that coral, fish and skin tones look more natural. Switch it on before you go in. Switch it off again afterwards, or your dry-land clips will look oddly warm.

Stabilisation

Action footage is shaky by nature. The camera has electronic image stabilisation, or EIS, which uses software to smooth the picture.

EIS handles the small, fast vibrations of a handlebar and the bounce of walking quite well. It is not the same as a mechanical gimbal, and very rough motion will still show. A firm mount helps the stabilisation do its job, so tighten the thumb screws properly.

The lens is a 170 degree wide angle. Wide lenses hide shake better than narrow ones, and they mean you rarely miss the subject. There is an 8x digital zoom, though on a camera like this it is better to move closer.

Power for a full day

The box contents list two 1050 mAh lithium-ion batteries. One part of the maker's description mentions four, so plan on two and treat anything more as a bonus.

The maker does not state how long one battery records for. That is typical, because the answer swings widely with resolution, WiFi and screen use. Two batteries means one in the camera and one in your pocket, and swapping takes seconds.

A USB cable is in the box, and the maker names a battery charger among the features. No mains adaptor is listed, so bring a USB power source. A power bank in your day bag works well for topping up over lunch.

Mounts and the remote

A camera you have to hold is only half an action camera. The box list includes a black camera frame, two flat bicycle handlebar holders, a hook buckle, long and short thumb screws and extension arms.

For a rider, the handlebar holders are the obvious starting point. Fit one, set the angle with an extension arm, and the camera looks down the path ahead.

A remote control is also included, which lets you start recording when the camera is mounted out of reach. The maker does not state its range or any water rating for it, so keep the remote dry.

The list the maker gives does not name a helmet or chest mount. If you need one, ask us first.

Cards, WiFi and getting footage off

The camera records to a microSD card, and a card is not listed in the box. The maker lists a V60 video speed class. 4K video writes a lot of data every second, and a slow card causes dropped frames and failed recordings, so buy a fast card from a known brand. The maker does not state a maximum card size.

Built-in 2.4 GHz WiFi connects the camera to a phone or tablet running Android or iOS. Windows computers are listed as compatible, and you can always pull the card and use a reader.

Heat, humidity and salt

Our climate is hard on cameras. Three habits help.

Close the waterproof case indoors, in dry air-conditioned air, before heading out. Sealing in humid outdoor air is what causes the lens to fog when the case hits cool water.

After the sea, rinse the closed case in fresh water and dry it before opening. Salt crystals on a seal are as bad as sand.

Do not leave the camera on a car dashboard or in direct sun on a boat deck. Batteries dislike heat, and the maker does not state an operating temperature range.

Before the first outing

Spend half an hour with the camera at home before you take it anywhere that matters. Charge both batteries and fit the microSD card. Record a minute of 4K, play it back, and connect the camera to your phone over WiFi so you know the whole chain works.

Then try the hardware. Close the empty waterproof case and look at the seal all the way round. Hold the empty case under water in a basin for a few minutes, then check inside for drops before you trust it with the camera in the sea. Fit a handlebar holder to your bike, tighten the thumb screws and see whether the camera stays put when you bounce the front wheel.

Finally, pair the remote and practise starting and stopping a clip without looking. Ten minutes of this at home means you will not be reading the manual at the jetty.

Who it suits

This camera suits someone who wants one kit that covers a cycling weekend, a snorkelling holiday and the odd rainy hike, without buying accessories separately. It suits people who film themselves, thanks to the front screen. It also suits a first-time buyer, since the case, remote, spare battery and mounts are already there.

If you need high frame rate slow motion, a stated battery run time or a known weight for a drone or a helmet, the maker does not give those figures, and you should ask us or look at a model that does.

The short version

This is a 4K action camera with a dual screen layout: a front screen for framing yourself and a 2 inch touchscreen on the back. It shoots 4K at 30 frames per second and 24 MP photos, steadies footage with EIS, and goes to 40 m underwater inside its supplied case, with a Diving Mode for better colour. Two 1050 mAh batteries, a remote and bicycle mounts are listed in the box. Add a fast microSD card and a USB power source, keep it in the case around water, and check the seal every time.
