1080p video at 30fps, 5MP photos and a 1.77 inch screen, supplied with a waterproof case, bicycle and helmet mounts, two straps and a lanyard.

This kids waterproof camera is a small action-style camera that goes inside a sealed case for swimming, water play and wet weather.

The maker gives a depth rating of up to about 30 m in the case, far deeper than any child's swim, and gives no time limit.

It records 1080p video at 30fps and 5MP photos, with a 1.77 inch screen on the back for a quick look at the result.

A bicycle mount, a helmet mount, two fastening straps and a lanyard are included, and an adult should fit and check them.

The maker's age range is 4 to 12 years, and the built-in battery records for about 1.5 hours per charge.

Kids Waterproof Action Camera with Dive Case and 1080p Video

Water and cameras do not usually mix, and water is exactly where children have the most fun. This kids waterproof camera gets round the problem the way grown-up action cameras do. The camera is a small block about 6 cm across, and it closes inside its waterproof case before it goes anywhere near the pool.

Kids Waterproof Action Camera with Dive Case and 1080p Video

The maker rates it to a depth of up to about 30 m. No child will come close to that at a swimming complex, so read it as plenty of margin for splashing, ducking under and holding the camera below the surface. The maker states no time limit. The protection comes from the case being shut properly, which is a job for an adult every time.

Kids Waterproof Action Camera with Dive Case and 1080p Video

As a kids video camera it records 1080p at 30fps, and it takes 5MP photos. There is a 1.77 inch screen, 4x digital zoom, burst shooting, time-lapse photo, 40 photo frames and 7 colour video modes. It is a toy before it is a camera. Footage is fun and watchable, with simple controls, and it is modest beside a phone or a full-price action camera.

Kids Waterproof Action Camera with Dive Case and 1080p Video

The accessories widen where it can go. A bicycle mount and a helmet mount are in the box, with two fastening straps and a lanyard. An adult should fit the mounts, tighten them and check them before each ride. They are there to hold a camera and nothing more.

The body weighs 50 g and has a built-in 3.7V rechargeable battery that records for about 1.5 hours, according to the maker. A micro SD card and a USB cable are included. No wall charger is listed. The stated age range is 4 to 12 years.

Not sure yet? That is fine.

A camera has to suit the job you bought it for, and you cannot always judge that from a photograph. Frequently Asked Questions

What sort of camera is this?

It is a small action-style camera made for children. It records video and photos, fits inside a waterproof case, and can be strapped to a bike or a helmet with the mounts supplied. Think of it as a child's version of a sports camera, with simpler controls and simpler results.

What ages does the maker suggest?

The maker lists ages 4 to 12. We would not buy it for a child under 4. Younger children in that range will need an adult to seal the case and fit the mounts.

Is the camera waterproof on its own?

Plan on it being waterproof only inside the supplied case. The maker gives the depth rating together with the case, and the case is what seals out water. Without it, keep the camera dry.

How deep can it go?

The maker rates it to a depth of up to about 30 m in the waterproof case. It does not state a time limit. A child at the pool or snorkelling at the surface will be nowhere near that depth.

How do I know the case is sealed properly?

Check that the seal is clean, with no sand, hair or grit on it, then close the case fully. A simple trick is to dunk the empty case with a piece of tissue inside before the first swim. If the tissue stays dry, you have closed it correctly.

Can it be used in the sea?

The maker describes it as an underwater camera for swimming and does not single out salt water. If you take it to the beach, rinse the closed case in fresh water afterwards and dry it before opening. Salt and sand left on the seal are what cause leaks later.

Will it record sound under water?

The maker does not state how sound behaves in the case. A sealed case blocks most sound from reaching the camera, so expect underwater clips to be quiet or muffled. Out of the case, audio is listed in AAC format.

What size is the screen on the back?

The screen measures 1.77 inches. It is small, and it is meant for checking the framing and replaying a clip. Proper viewing is better done on a computer later.

What is the video quality?

It records 1080p video at 30 frames per second from a CMOS sensor. That is enough for clear, watchable clips of a bike ride or a pool session in daylight. It will not match the smooth, stabilised footage from an expensive action camera.

Are the still photos any good?

Still photos are 5MP and save as JPEG files. That is a modest figure, fine for viewing on a screen and sharing with family. This is a toy camera first, so judge it by the fun, not the sharpness.

Does it zoom?

It has 4x digital zoom. Digital zoom crops and enlarges the image, so it gets grainier as you go in. Action footage usually looks better left wide.

What are the photo frames and colour modes?

The maker lists 40 photo frames and 7 colour video modes. Frames add a decorative border to a photo, and colour modes tint the video. They are playful extras children enjoy trying out.

What do burst shooting and time-lapse photo do?

Burst shooting takes several photos quickly from one press, which helps with a jump into the pool. Time-lapse photo takes pictures at intervals. The maker lists both without giving the exact settings.

What is the face recognition feature?

Face recognition appears in the maker's feature list. No further detail is given, so we cannot say exactly what it does on this model. Do not buy the camera for that feature alone.

How much recording time does a charge give?

The maker says about 1.5 hours of recording per charge. When roughly 5 minutes of power remain, the camera switches itself off. That is enough for an outing if your child films in short clips.

What do I need to charge it?

The battery is built in and charges with the USB cable in the box. No wall charger is listed, so use a computer's USB port or a USB adaptor you already have. The maker does not state a charging time.

Is a memory card included?

Yes. The maker's box list names an 8GB micro SD card. That holds a fair amount of short clips, though long 1080p videos fill a small card quickly, so copy files off regularly.

Can I fit a bigger memory card?

The camera takes micro SD cards. The maker does not state the largest size it accepts, so we cannot confirm a limit. If you want more room, ask us before buying a large card.

How do we move videos to a computer?

Connect the camera to a computer with the USB cable and copy the files over. The maker notes that an Apple Mac needs an adapter for this. A micro SD card reader is another route.

Which mounts come with it?

A bicycle mount and a helmet mount are included, along with two fastening straps. Between them, the camera can ride on handlebars, sit on a helmet or be strapped to other gear. The maker mentions skating, cycling and skateboarding as uses.

Who should fit the mounts?

An adult. Tighten each mount and strap and check it before every use, because a loose camera can fall off mid-ride. The mounts hold the camera in place and do nothing else, and the small fittings should be kept away from very young siblings.

Is there a lanyard?

Yes, a lanyard is included for carrying. A cord around the neck calls for adult supervision. Take it off for swimming, cycling and climbing.

How small and light is it?

The camera weighs 50 g and measures 6 x 5.8 x 2.5 cm. That is about the weight of a large egg. The waterproof case adds some bulk, and the maker does not state the size or weight with the case on.

Is it as good as an adult action camera?

No, and it is not priced or built like one. Controls are simple, the screen is small and picture quality is modest. For a child who wants to film a scooter run or a swim, that is usually plenty.

Can it be used in the rain?

In its sealed waterproof case, yes. Out of the case, treat it as an ordinary small camera that should stay dry. In a sudden downpour, the case is the easy answer.

Why does the case fog up sometimes?

Moving from a cold air-conditioned room into hot, humid air can leave mist inside any sealed case. Close the case in a dry room and let the camera cool down between long recordings. If mist appears, open the case in the shade, wipe it dry and reseal.

Does it have a flash or night mode?

The maker does not state a flash or a night mode. Expect it to work well outdoors in daylight and less well in dim rooms or murky water.

What is in the box?

The maker lists the camera, a waterproof case, an 8GB micro SD card, a USB cable, two fastening straps, a bicycle mount, a helmet mount, a lanyard and a user manual.

How long is delivery to Singapore addresses?

Most orders arrive within 7 to 12 working days of the order date. Our products are sent from overseas warehouses, so allow for that if you need it by a set date. Delivery is to Singapore addresses only, free on orders of $150 or more and a flat $20 under that, and you get tracking by email once the parcel is on its way.

What if my child does not take to it?

You can return it within 14 days of delivery in resaleable condition. That means clean, dry and complete, with every mount and strap back in the box. Contact us first so we can set the return up.

Buying A Kids Waterproof Camera: Cases, Depth Ratings And What To Expect

6 min read Camera Company

Children go where cameras should not

Ask a child where the fun is and the answers are wet. The swimming complex on a Saturday. The condo pool. The water play area at the mall. The beach at Sentosa. A puddle after rain.

Those are the places you least want your phone to be. So the moments your child would most like to film are the ones that never get filmed, or get filmed by a nervous adult holding a phone at arm's length.

A kids waterproof camera is a low-stakes way round that. It belongs to the child, it goes in the water, and if it gets knocked about, nobody's contacts and banking apps are at stake.

The case does the waterproofing

Start with the most important point. This camera goes under water inside its waterproof case.

The camera is a small block: 6 x 5.8 x 2.5 cm and 50 g. The waterproof case closes around it and seals. The maker rates the pair to a depth of up to about 30 m. No time limit is stated.

Thirty metres is far more than a child needs. A training pool is a metre or two deep. Snorkelling happens at the surface. Read the rating as a generous margin, not as an invitation.

What matters in real life is the seal. One hair or a few grains of sand across it can let water in. So closing the case is an adult's job, every time. Look at the seal, wipe it if needed, close the case and check it has shut all the way round. Before the first swim, dunk the empty case with a square of tissue inside. Dry tissue means you have it right.

Out of the case, treat the camera as not waterproof at all.

What it records

This is an underwater camera for kids, which means the recording side is kept simple.

Video is 1080p at 30 frames per second. Photos are 5MP. The sensor is a CMOS type, and the picture has a 16:9 shape, the same as a television. There is a 1.77 inch screen on the back for framing and for a quick replay.

The maker adds a list of extras: 4x digital zoom, burst shooting, time-lapse photo, face recognition, 40 photo frames and 7 colour video modes. Some of these will get used once and forgotten. Burst shooting is the handy one, because it catches the middle of a jump.

Now for the honest part. This is a toy first and a camera second. In bright daylight the clips are clear and fun to watch. Under water, in a dim hall or at dusk, they get murky. The maker's details are mixed on image stabilisation, so do not count on it to smooth out a bumpy ride. And sound inside a sealed case is muffled at most.

Children do not mind any of this. They mind whether they can film their own cannonball. They can.

Bikes, scooters and helmets

The second trick is the mounting kit. A bicycle mount, a helmet mount and two fastening straps come in the box.

Clamped to the handlebars, the camera films the park connector from a child's point of view. On a helmet it sees what they see. The maker mentions skating, cycling and skateboarding.

A few sensible rules apply. An adult fits the mounts. An adult checks them before each ride, because a mount that works loose drops the camera on the path. The mounts hold a camera and do nothing else. And filming is a reason to set up before riding, not to fiddle with buttons while moving.

The fittings are small. If there are very young siblings in the home, store the mounts and straps out of reach.

Battery and storage

The battery is built in, a 3.7V rechargeable cell. The maker gives about 1.5 hours of recording per charge. When about 5 minutes of power are left, the camera turns itself off.

Ninety minutes sounds short, and for one continuous recording it would be. Children film in bursts, though. Thirty seconds here, a minute there. Used that way, a charge covers a morning at the pool.

Charging is by the USB cable in the box. No wall charger is listed, so plug into a computer or a USB adaptor you already own. The maker does not give a charging time, so top it up the night before.

For storage, the maker's box list names an 8GB micro SD card. That is fine for short clips. Long 1080p videos eat space, so empty the card onto a computer after each big outing. The maker does not state the largest card the camera accepts.

Transfers go over USB to a computer. The maker notes that an Apple Mac needs an adapter.

Who it suits

The maker's age range is 4 to 12 years.

For a child of 4 or 5, this is very much a camera used alongside an adult. You seal the case, you start the recording, and they wave it about in the shallow end. The lanyard needs watching and should come off for swimming.

From about 6 to 10, children can run it themselves once the case is closed. This is the age for a kids action camera: scooters, bikes, swimming lessons, holidays. Parents hunting for a camera for a 6 year old who will not sit still tend to like this style.

At 11 and 12, some children will want better footage than a toy gives. If your child already edits videos, a step up may be wiser.

It also suits families who travel. A kids camera for holidays that can go in the hotel pool and on the snorkelling trip, without anyone worrying about it, is a useful thing to pack.

Setting it up on day one

Do the first run at home, not at the poolside with an impatient child in goggles.

Charge the camera fully. Check that the micro SD card is in its slot, then record a ten second clip in the living room and play it back, so you know the card is working. Next, practise with the case. Open it, seat the camera, close it again, and try the tissue test in the kitchen sink.

Then show your child how it works with the case shut: how to start a clip, how to stop it, and how to take a photo. Leave the frames, colour modes and time-lapse for a rainy afternoon. A child who knows the basics will come back with footage. One who was shown every menu will come back with forty accidental photos of the changing room floor.

If you plan to use the bike mount, fit it the evening before and take a slow test ride on a quiet stretch of the park connector to see where the camera is pointing.

Looking after it in the tropics

Heat, humidity, chlorine and salt are all part of life here, and each one has a simple answer.

After the pool or the sea, rinse the closed case under the tap. Dry it with a towel before you open it, so drips do not land on the camera.

Fog is common. A case sealed in a cold, air-conditioned room and then carried into 32 degree heat can mist up inside. Seal it in a dry room, keep it shaded, and if it fogs, open it out of the sun, wipe and reseal.

Do not leave it on a car dashboard or by the poolside in full sun. Small batteries dislike heat.

Look at the seal every few weeks. If it looks flattened, cracked or gritty, stop using the case in water.

One note before the first outing

Recording other people is covered by Singapore law, including the PDPA, and by HDB, Town Council or condominium rules for shared corridors.

Delivery and returns

Most orders arrive in 7 to 12 working days by tracked courier, sent from overseas warehouses. Delivery is free across Singapore on orders of $150 or more and $20 under that. If the camera is for a trip, order at least three weeks ahead to be comfortable.

Returns are accepted within 14 days of delivery in resaleable condition, with all the mounts, straps and the case included.

The short version

This is a small kids video camera that records 1080p at 30fps and 5MP photos. It goes inside a waterproof case that the maker rates to about 30 m. It comes with a bicycle mount, a helmet mount, two straps, a lanyard, a micro SD card and a USB cable. The camera weighs 50 g, runs for about 1.5 hours of recording, and is meant for ages 4 to 12.

It is a toy first. The footage is modest and the screen is tiny. What you are buying is a camera your child can take into the water and onto the bike.

An adult seals the case and fits the mounts. After that, hand it over.
